As we roll into mid-March, it’s once again time for the tournament of tournaments: Fandom Madness!

Fandom Madness is a March Madness-style tournament that pits characters from your favorite fandoms against one another to determine a champion. When voting, you can use any criteria you like: best hair, best fighter, nicest, meanest…it doesn’t matter how you choose, only that you support your favorite characters so they go all the way to the end.

Before we take a look at the official bracket, here’s a quick breakdown of the schedule, which follows the real world March Madness tournament.

  • Round 1: Thursday, March 18  through Saturday, March 20
  • Round 2: Sunday, March 21, through Friday, March 26
  • Sweet 16: Saturday, March 27 through Sunday, March 28
  • Elite 8: Monday, March 29, through Friday, April 2
  • Final Four: Saturday, April 3, through Sunday, April 4
  • Championship Round: Monday, April 5, through Tuesday April 6

For each new round, voting will last from 10:00 a.m. CST of the opening day until 10:00 p.m. CST of the closing day. All the voting will go down in Twitter polls, which we will embed in each new post.

With the rules out of the way, behold our official 2021 Fandom Madness bracket! (Click to blow it up and get a better look at the names.)

As you can see, a wide variety of your favorites are represented. From hungry Fandom Madness newcomers like Wanda Maximoff and The Umbrella Academy’s Five to titans like Iron Man and Daenerys Targaryen to old favorites like Luke Skywalker, we cast our net wide and deep. Seedings were based on everything from popularity to previous performances in our tournaments. Last year, the championship match was between Lucifer and The Wheel of Time’s Moraine Damodred, so they moved up quite a bit in the rankings.

Remember: this tournament is about choosing your favorite characters, not who would win in a fight…unless you want it to be about that. So rally your fandom, vote, and above all, have fun. Let the Fandom Madness begin!
