A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms fans have been ‘absolutely blown away’ by the show’s ‘perfect’ finale.
The six-part drama, Based on the Tales of Dunk and Egg novellas by George R. R. Martin, drew to a dramatic close this week.
Following Ser Duncan the Tall (Peter Claffey) and his nine-year-old squire Egg (Dexter Sol Ansell), the Game of Thrones spin-off, which is set 100 years after the beginning of House of The Dragon, has been well received by viewers.
But, discussing season one’s final episode, which is titled ‘The Morrow’, fans were left in floods of tears by the emotional ending.
Taking to X, @SceneinCinema was so impressed by the show that they called it the ‘best series of the year’.
Fred added: ‘The last episode of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was a masterpiece. I haven’t felt such strong emotion from a TV show since the Better Call Saul finale. Congrats to everyone involved.’
Benedict also wrote: ‘A knight of the seven kingdoms was one of the best first seasons of TV I’ve ever seen. Absolute 10/10 finale.’
Meanwhile, Alfred argued that the finale was ‘perfect’, as Ali similarly exclaimed: Well, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms season 1 finale made me tear up… That was so beautiful. I love this show and story so much.’
Despite having not read the books, Mike also commented: ‘Season one absolutely blew me away. Really good finale. I can’t wait to see where they go from here.’
Have you watched A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?
But while most of the reaction was positive for the show, not all were happy, as Gabe argued that it is ‘illegal’ that only six episodes were created.
Baapofmovies_123 on Reddit also argued that the finale ‘felt too short’ despite being ‘quietly emotional’.
For those who are sad to see season one ending, fear not! HBO has already renewed A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms for a second season in November 2025.
But, for die-hard fans of Martin’s work, one major spoiler was leaked by Ansell after 12 years.
Appearing on the Decider YouTube channel alongside Claffey, Ansell revealed what happens at the battle of Summerhall, which is one of the most mysterious events in Targaryen history.
What did Metro think of the series?
So far, fans of Martin’s book series only knew that the Targaryen dynasty never regained its numbers, with Aegon V’s reign ending there.
It is believed that there was a fire that destroyed the Targaryen summer castle, resulting in the deaths of King Aegon V, his son Prince Duncan and Ser Duncan the Tall.
But Ansell’s comments have been described as an ‘epic, epic spoiler’.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is available to watch on Sky and Now.
