Yes to D Meeting Fawkes, ( wonders if JKR names the Phoenix after Guy Fawkes?) yes to Fawkes giving two feathers for the wands, and I do think Newt helps D with Fawkes either with knowledge or helping D nurse Fawkes if they find him injured.

Since Phoenices are immortal, I would think that it is more likely that Dumbledore rescues Fawkes from capture, perhaps by a wizard who is dealing in the black market for fantastic beasts or from a Muggle who somehow finds him. It would be a waste of a good tie-in if we don't see that the wands are made from his tail feathers, freely given. I am not sure that to call Dumbledore Fawkes' 'owner' is appropriate; they seem more like partners. I am truly looking forward to the next installment.
