The new Fast & Furious film reunites Hobbs & Shaw, the characters played by Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

As expected with each release from this franchise, it’s extremely fun and complete nonsense – and even won over our critic Clarisse Loughrey, whose review you can read here.

The film has plenty of surprises in store in the form of several cameos and one moment that sees the action film take aim at the Game of Thrones finale.

*Spoilers below – you have been warned*

Now, we’re not going to reveal the biggest cameo here, but an extremely recognisable figure shows up early on in the film and returns again for a mid and post-credits sequence.

This character – who goes by the name of Locke – is clearly a disappointed Game of Thrones fan.

After seeing him having a conversation with Hobbs’ daughter about the HBO show, we later see him angrily criticising the way the show ended – specifically how Jon Snow (Kit Harington) had sex with his auntie, Daenerys Targaryen, (Emilia Clarke) and then ended up killing her.

It’s a bold move to include such a direct reference to something that’s actually not so much a part of the cultural conversation anymore.

It may have seemed like a fun idea when the fantasy series broadcast its controversial finale back in May, but it’s something that’s clearly going to date the film in years to come.

The film isn’t the only one to criticise how the show ended. At Comic-Con last month, Seth Rogen also poked fun at the final season that, days earlier, had been defended by its stars during a panel.
