The most recent volume in the Game of Thrones series, The Winds of Winter, was published in 2011, making it more than thirteen years old. Many of George R. R. Martin‘s fans are getting frustrated with him since it’s taking him too long to finish, despite his sporadic updates. However, recent speculation has given fans hope that the much-awaited novel will be announced right after House of the Dragon Season 2 ends.

The Winds of Winter might be released after House of the Dragon finale

Fans have waited for The Winds of Winter for way too long, and there’s a chance Martin might’ve planned something grand for his book release. According to a story posted on pop culture observer deuxmoi’s Instagram, they were informed of a book release party to be held in New Mexico at a prominent author’s house after the release of a long-awaited book.

The party could very well line up with the end of House of the Dragon Season 2, which means The Winds of Winter could see an August launch. That is provided George doesn’t delay it again, which isn’t unlikely.

Could George R. R. Martin attend WorldCon with The Winds of Winter?

The final episode of House of the Dragon Season 2 airs on the 4th of August this year. George R. R. Martin has been a regular attendee as well as an honored guest at the WorldCon, which is scheduled for 8 to 12th August this year in the UK. And he is indeed going to the UK, as he is confirmed to be attending a book signing and Q&A event at Oxford Writers’ House. WorldCon would be the perfect opportunity to show up with The Winds of Winter, especially since George has broken a promise to bring the book to WorldCon before.
