Last year author George RR Martin published Fire and Blood, the first of a two-volume history of House Targaryen. The book starts wth Aegon the Conqueror taking over the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros and goes up to Aegon III. At 736 pages long, it’s a whopper of a fictional history and one that’s held up Martin completing his final two entries in A Song of Ice and Fire, The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring. Of course, he intends on eventually publishing Fire and Blood 2, but when?

Well, earlier this week Martin took part in a Fire and Blood Q&A event in London.

According to The Wertzone blog, who was in attendance, the 70-year-old revealed that Fire and Blood 2 is planned out.

The blogger wrote: “GRRM is relishing the chance to tell the story of Aegon IV and his mistresses.

“But not yet written, and can’t be published until after ASOIAF as a whole is completed.”

, Martin intends on finishing The Winds of Winter next year, then taking a break with the fourth Dunk and Egg novella.

He’ll then finally start the conclusive volume of A Song of Ice and Fire, A Dream of Spring, after which he’ll once again treat himself to a fifth Dunk and Egg story.

Only after all that, will he begin writing Fire and Blood’s second volume.

Now considering, Martin’s spent the best part of the last decade working on The Winds of Winter, alongside Fire and Blood and some smaller works, it seems that Fire and Blood 2 won’t arrive for maybe up to 10 years.

After all, with so many projects now in television too, Martin’s writing has slowed down in recent years.

And if he’s got another epic book to go aside from the two novellas, perhaps the late 2020s is the best bet at this stage for Fire and Blood 2?

Although, Fire and Blood 1 was supposedly written in a few weeks, so maybe he’ll take a break from A Dream of Spring and get it out early?

Whatever the case, Fire and Blood 2’s release date is not coming any time soon. However,
