Netflix has revealed a first look at the upcoming Army of the Dead prequel Army of Thieves.
The new movie is set to follow safecracker Ludwig Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer) in the days before he broke into safes.
Going by the first look (which also includes Game of Thrones‘ Nathalie Emmanuel), he’s going to have his hands full with some of these impressive safe doors…

The movie also stars Guz Khan, Stuart Martin, Jonathan Cohen, Ruby O Fee, Noemie Nakai and Peter Simonischek, with Schweighöfer directing the film himself.
“A mysterious woman recruits bank teller Dieter to assist in a heist of impossible-to-crack safes across Europe,” the synopsis reads.

Army of Thieves has been described as “a romantic-comedy slash heist movie”, with Schweighöfer previously saying of the guidance he got from Snyder: “‘Dream big. Create your universe – your best version. And just do your movie. This is your movie. Just start it.’
“And that’s what I did. These two films, they’re amazing. These two films, it will be, first, Army of the Dead, and then my movie. They will be great… It will be very international, and that’s what I can say.”

Alongside the prequel, Army of the Dead is set for an animated spin-off series, with the likes of Dave Bautista, Ella Purnell, Tig Notaro, Omari Hardwick and Ana de la Reguera all returning.
On top of that, there’s the Guzman of the Dead 420 YouTube spin-off too – so all in all, it’s pretty busy in the Army of the Dead universe.
