Game of Thrones Season 8 has had a tough journey, and the fans have not been happy with the quality of the writing. The series finale, The Iron Throne, is probably the most hated Game of Thrones episode of all time, and HBO recently took the bold decision of sending in the episode for Best Writing Emmy consideration for 2019. Needless to say, the fans aren’t happy with this. Read on!
The Emmy ballots are used to boil down the nominees to the final list. This year’s ballots are out, and with six Season 8 episodes to choose from, HBO decided to go for the Season 8 finale, The Iron Throne. It was chosen over even episode 2, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, arguably the best-written episode of the Season, which didn’t get a slot in the Best Direction category, either.
For direction, HBO submitted one episode each from David Nutter, Miguel Sapochnik, and David and Dan (The Last of the Starks, The Long Night, and The Iron Throne, respectively.) The finale is rated at a record low 49% on Rotten Tomatoes, which makes it the most hated Game of Thrones episode of all times, so naturally, the fans weren’t happy with all of this. Tweets followed:
TFW you realize the best episode of #GameOfThrones‘ last season—”A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” obviously—is submitted for neither Directing nor Writing at the #Emmys. pic.twitter.com/PpSDtxjI4q

so who thought it was a good idea for hbo to submit 8×06 of game of thrones for an emmy nomination in best writing category when this episode is of the most boring season finales to ever exist pic.twitter.com/UkI5dGFPdG

#emmy HBO put in this episode for Game of Thrones……
“HBO submitted just the series finale itself, “The Iron Throne”, written by showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss.” pic.twitter.com/bfyW6g6mCd

The Emmy submissions make less sense than the s08 of #GameofThrones and that’s saying A LOT.
