Game of Thrones Season 8 has had a tough journey, and the fans have not been happy with the quality of the writing. The series finale, The Iron Throne, is probably the most hated Game of Thrones episode of all time, and HBO recently took the bold decision of sending in the episode for Best Writing Emmy consideration for 2019. Needless to say, the fans aren’t happy with this. Read on!

The Emmy ballots are used to boil down the nominees to the final list. This year’s ballots are out, and with six Season 8 episodes to choose from, HBO decided to go for the Season 8 finale, The Iron Throne. It was chosen over even episode 2, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, arguably the best-written episode of the Season, which didn’t get a slot in the Best Direction category, either.

For direction, HBO submitted one episode each from David Nutter, Miguel Sapochnik, and David and Dan (The Last of the Starks, The Long Night, and The Iron Throne, respectively.) The finale is rated at a record low 49% on Rotten Tomatoes, which makes it the most hated Game of Thrones episode of all times, so naturally, the fans weren’t happy with all of this.
