Forging a Bronze Age style sword from a semi truck leaf spring, part 1.
The sword is forged from a salvaged leaf spring, 5160 steel, this steel very good for swords and big knives.
I use molds to forge the profile, as the central ridge common in most Bronze Age swords is almost impossible to make otherwise.
The sword is full tang, including the guard. The blade length is approximately 60 cm.

Amazing work.
Жало Бильбо, мать его!
Damn now I have to wait for part 2. The build was going so good.
the point of the bronze age is that they used bronze instead of iron this is a pretty ill conceived project
Why always it is a semi truck leaf?
13:02 What is that white powder stuff?

Forgive me for my ignorance, but what is that white powdery stuff you put the steel in?
الُلُُهمٌ صّلُ وَسِلُمٌ ْعلُى نَبّيَنَا مٌحُمٌدِ
such dedication to the client, to part the propane forge just so it fits
did you not have an open forge?
You’re so cool man. Would you make KATANA please
Freerk, I love your work, but for love of God please fix your anvil stand so it doesn't wobble!!!!
How do you think they did ridge in ancient times? Btw, Achilles will be proud to wield your sword 😀
12:18 good enough I guess
Man I wish I had a surface grinder like that. Such an awesome tool to have!
i wonder how much time you need to forge this with no power hammer
Good stuff mate.
heh, it's not even finishied yet, and it allready looks awesome! waiting to see the rest 🙂
damn, bronze age swords and ancient weapons in general are legendary. Seeing em remade in steel is awesome. Damn nice sword.
at first i was like gosh thats a thin blade
What is the powder you quench the sword in at 13:15? I've only ever seen stuff quenched in water or oil. What is the difference? Edit: Thank you for the informative replies!
I've been waiting for someone to forge one of those of steel, and it looks very nice so far! I was wondering don't the dies on your power hammer get overheated and lose their temper ?
I've never seen one of these swords made of anything but bronze before and I have to say I like it. As a fan of these swords can you do a khopesh next please.
Is this a replica (based on historical artifact) or your own design? Thanks.
nice
