  1. Definitely Robert's fault with Lady. He just fobbed it off as he didn't want to arbitrate the dispute and found it an easy way out. Ned even challenges it as far he can, saying "Is this your command… your Grace?", about as close as he gets to saying, this is a really bad decision your Grace, short of I'll take no part of it. It's the first clear sign Robert is not the King Ned thinks he should be.

  3. Irri's story of the moon egg plants the link between Deanery's female fertility and her ability to hatch dragon eggs to hatch. While still a virgin she thinks of them as curiosities. When Drogo tries to impregnate her she stares at them. During her sexual awakening with Khal Drogo she begins to feel maternal toward them. The parallel continues as she falls pregnant with a human child and brings it to term, only for it to be said to have 'the wings of a bat' – Mirri Maz Dur knew the power Daenerys had to hatch the eggs and indirectly cited this as the reason the baby had to be aborted. When Rhaego should have been born, the eggs hatch. All the egg scenes are parallel to her stages of fertility. It's Targaryen women who hatch dragon eggs.

  4. A very basic question: Why couldn’t Ned have told Catelyn the truth about Jon’s parentage? I know he has to protect Jon and he’s sworn to his sister, but he would have saved his wife (and Jon) so much pain if he had just shared this truth in great confidence with Cat.
