The best way to get in depth information about the characters & their motives is to watch the history & lore, after each season. You'll probably enjoy the show even more, not that you wont enjoy it if you don't watch it. Game of Thrones is probably the best show out in my humble opinion! Just saying, you'll learn a lot more about the show. Either way, nice reactions!
Ok the shadow baby.the red priestess used blood magic (just the same kind of magic dany used to hatch the dragons) to create a sort of assassin to kill renley.almost all of renleys men where baratheon men…they chose to turn from stannis and side with renly who had no real claim to the throne as he was stannis's younger brother.

Just an idea, can you maybe at the end of each reaction do a list of characters you like and others you don't ? And I'm sure the list will change through seasons.
you should react or at least watch GOT: History and Lore, they are a series of mini videos (3-6mins long per video) explaining what happened before the show started and explaining the background of noble families (like the Targaryens, Tyrells, Lannisters, etc) you would understand more things way better if you did (they came up like 8 per season, so be sure to watch only seasons 1 and 2 for now so you dont get spoiled or anything about any upcoming plot)

Here's a great way to really get into the shows, Jimmy Macram did this and it made him a better analyst of the characters and plot. What you do is, watch the Histories and Lore of the Season previous to this one. So when you are watching Season 2, watch Histories and Lore of Season One. When you are on Season 3, watch Histories and Lore from Season 2. etc.

The Red Woman or the Red Witch, as most call her, is Melisandre. She comes from Essos (the Eastern continent where Dany currently is). She is a Red Priestess. You will see more of them in the future. They serve a god named R'hllor, also called the Lord of Light or the Red God. His antithesis is the Great Other, also known as the Lord of Darkness. There are many religions in this world, you will find out more as you go. Melisandre's goal is to 'evangelize' Westeros and since she feels that Stannis is the only one who can help her better serve this purpose, she came to him.

You are right, the Targaryens literally created the iron throne and even built the Red Keep(the castle in King's Landing). They were the ones who united the seven kingdoms. There also wouldn't even be a House Baratheon if it wasn't for the Targaryens. The founder of House Baratheon helped Aegon Targaryen conquer Westeros as apart of his army and House Baratheon wasn't a thing until Aegon gave Storm's End(the ancestral home of Baratheons) to him after eliminating the family who ruled there before. That's how the Baratheons got power and became a noble family. So technically yes, no matter who usurps the throne, it will always rightfully belong to the Targaryens so yeah Dany is the rightful heir/has the best claim over Stannis.
