If you’re a Game of Thrones fan and you’re disappointed that HBO Max doesn’t offer the series in 4K, another option is coming. Listings for a boxed set of all eight seasons have started appearing on online storefronts, though a solid release date isn’t available just yet. While 4K versions of the first and eighth seasons of the show have been available for a while now, this marks the first time a collection including all 73 episodes and eight seasons has been offered.
Details on the boxed set are fairly scarce so far, but Amazon’s preorder listing mentions more than 15 hours of bonus footage in addition to all eight seasons. Beyond the 4K Blu-ray discs themselves, box art of the set mentions included digital download codes, which is fairly commonplace for Blu-ray and 4K Blu-ray releases these days. An expiration date of Dec. 31, 2022 for those codes puts an upper limit on the potential release date, but we’ll likely see the set go on sale considerably sooner than that.
For now, though, Game of Thrones fans can at least get their preorders in and perhaps relive the show in up to 1080p via HBO Max.
