Jon Snow fights off and kills a White Walker with Valyrian Steel in Hardhome along with the Army of the Dead. A white walker strides into the burning hall. Thenn moves to fight him while Jon Snow finds the glass. The Walker’s weapon shatters Thenn’s axe, and the White Walker kills him. The Walker moves to attack Jon. Jon picks up a sword from the ground, but the White Walker shatters it and knocks Jon down. Jon picks up Longclaw, made of Valyrian Steel, and it withstands the White Walker’s attack. Jon uses it to kill the Walker. The Night’s King sees this happen. After a moments respite, the Night’s King sends a legion of Wights tumbling over the mountain to continue the attack in the battle of Hardhome. Game of Thrones Season 5 Episode 8 (S05E08) “Hardhome”

  1. That last episode made the white walkers look mad easy to kill. This episode showed that they can fight and are very strong. It was the element of surprise that Jon won this fight. He didn't win in a straight up fight and it makes more sense that way since their so feared.right? That episode the other day Jon just ambushed him and fought for a minute and chopped him into ice like it's nothing.

  2. The fact that this white walker bothers to dodge that wildling general’s axe and that other white walker froze and shattered Sam’s sword makes me think that they could actually be killed or at least harmed by normal blades and arrows.

  3. I think the White walkers never really have an actual sword fight. They are too used to shattering people sword on first contact and when Jon finally got a hold of his sword, they were completely overwelmed by Jon's Swordmanship. The White Walkers are only used to killing unarmed people.
