I can't imagine they dragged a 4 ton corpse across half of Westeros and over the Wall to deposit him at the Night King for resurrection.

You have a small mistake. This isn't Mag the Mighty. He was killed by Gren and the Night's Watch at the battle of Castle Black. The giant here is Wun Wun. The one who escaped Hardhome with the Wildlings. In Hardhome, Tormund can be heard yelling, "Wun Wun, to the sea!"
