Tobias Menzies has addressed whether his character Edmure Tully could make an appearance in the final season of Game Of Thrones, and he’s certainly hopeful.

The 44-year-old actor appeared as the character throughout the show’s third and sixth seasons, being the uncle to Arya and Sansa Stark who was last seen captured by the Lannister forces.

As we approach the final season, Edmure’s whereabouts is a hanging question looming over the show – so could he make a possible return?

Asked by Metro.co.uk whether Edmure could come back for season eight, Tobias says: ‘He’s there somewhere yeah. He could. I don’t know whether they will.

‘I’ve not heard anything, but I imagine he’s sat in a dungeon somewhere not knowing what’s going on.

‘It’d be quite interesting to find out what’s going on with him, wouldn’t it? So fingers crossed. You never know.’

His reappearance could herald House Tully’s return, with Edmure having married Walder Frey’s daughter Roslin at the infamous Red Wedding.

Roslin is now living somewhere in Westeros with her and Edmure’s newborn son, so a return could revive their exiled house and allow them to reclaim the riverlands.

But would the show dedicate time to to smaller houses when there’s only six episodes left? We’ll have to agonizingly wait until 2019.

Metro.co.uk also recently spoke to actor Joe Dempsie who teased whether we’d be seeing his character Gendry swing the Baratheon hammer in the coming battles.

Tobias meanwhile is currently starring in AMC’s new series The Terror, playing Captain James Fitzjames in a Royal Navy crew who venture into uncharted territory to search for the Northwest Passage.

The Terror premieres 24th April at 9pm on BT TV.
