A Game of Thrones actress has shared her fears for her home county of Essex amid soaring cases.

Nathalie Emmanuel, who played Missandei in the hit TV show Game of Thrones, reminded residents to take care over the coming weeks as Essex continues to record alarming infection rates.

Just last week, a major incident was declared in Essex by the Essex Resilience Forum in order to seek further support from Government to address the pressures.

Members of the Armed Forces could also be drafted in to construct and staff new community hospitals in Essex in an effort to alleviate pressure off the NHS in the county.

The 31-year-old from Southend-on-Sea in Essex said she was scared by seeing her home county “overwhelmed” by Covid, where most of the people she loves live.

She added a friendly reminder to residents to stay safe, especially with New Years Eve today.

In a tweet, she said: “My home county #Essex is being overwhelmed by COVID… most of the people I love are there…. and that’s scary.

“At this point we all know the precautions that can be taken especially when health services are at breaking point. Stay safe everyone.”

She added: “Tbf [to be fair] my area of London has been hit really badly throughout this pandemic too.

“Wherever you are in the UK and the world over… a friendly reminder to do what you can to keep yourself and others safe… especially with NYE coming up.

“And love to everyone grieving a lost loved one.”
