Being everyone’s favorite program, Game of Thrones concluded its ten-year run almost five years ago, and we haven’t stopped talking about it since. The cast of the program, however, has already gone on and achieved success in their lives by appearing in successful franchises. Actor Alfie Allen from Game of Thrones, best known for his portrayal of Theon Greyjoy, who had one of the best storylines on the show, will next be seen in a new BBC series called Close to the Enemy.

Alfie Allen returns to TV with Close to the Enemy

Alfie Allen and Jim Sturgess from One Day will star in a brand-new BBC2 series titled Close to the Enemy. Stephen Poliakoff, the writer and director of Dancing on the Edge and The Lost Prince, is the author of the six-part series, which will take place against the backdrop of the escalating Cold War. Freddie Highmore, Charlotte Riley, Angela Basset, and Alfred Molina are among the show’s star-studded cast members.

What is Close to the Enemy about?

The official synopsis of Close to the Enemy reads:

“Close to the Enemy is set in the transitional period of 1946 – the brutal Second World War is finally over but the destruction of families and cities permeates everyone’s lives.

As the Cold War takes its hold in Europe and the public realization that the Atom Bomb could be used by any Government; our hero Callum (Jim Sturgess) passionately believes that to safeguard the future you mustn’t heed the past regardless of how terrible it has been.

However, as the story unfolds he finds that he is compelled to look backward and eventually realizes that you have to judge (for good or ill) those voluntarily or involuntarily involved in order to actually have a safer world.”

What is the release date for Close to the Enemy?

The shooting for Close to the Enemy has already begun in the UK. More information regarding the release date will be revealed as the filming progresses.
