Pedro Pascal

Known for playing Oberyn Martell in “Game of Thrones,” Chilean-American actor Pedro Pascal, 44, will play the title role in “The Mandalorian.” The  space-opera web television series will premiere on the Disney Plus streaming service on November 12, 2019.

Created by Jon Favreau, 52, “The Mandalorian” is based on “Star Wars” by George Lucas. On October 4, 2018, Favreau took to Instagram to share details about the upcoming series and the title character.

 

“The Mandalorian” marks Pascal’s return to the small screen after one year. In 2014, he appeared in seven episodes of the HBO series “Game of Thrones.”

From 2015 to 2017, Pascal played Javier Peña in the Netflix series “Narcos.” He did not appear in any series in 2018 but starred in the films “Prospect,” “The Equalizer 2” and “If Beale Street Could Talk.”

Pascal made his acting debut in 1991, appearing in four TV series namely “Good vs. Evil,” Downtown,” “Undressed” and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer.” He studied acting at the Orange County School of the Arts in Santa Ana, California, United States and New York University Tisch School of the Arts in Manhattan, New York City, USA.

As a kid, Pascal was a competitive swimmer. He was born in Santiago, Chile to a child psychologist mother and a fertility doctor father on April 2, 1975. The family moved to Denmark then eventually to the U.S.

Joining Pascal in the cast of “The Mandalorian” are Gina Carano, 37, as former Rebel Shock Trooper Cara Dune, Carl Weathers, 71, as Greef Carga and Omid Abtahi, 40, as Dr. Pershing. Also in the cast are Nick Nolte, 78, Giancarlo Esposito, 61, Emily Swallow, 39, Werner Herzog, 76, Bill Burr, 51, Mark Boone Junior, 64, and Ming-Na Wen, 55.

Taika Waititi, 44, will voice of IG-11. The 501st Legion members will play stormtroopers.

The first episode of “The Mandalorian” was written by Favreau and directed by Dave Filoni, 45. Here is the official trailer of the upcoming Disney+ series here:
