Game of Thrones and EastEnders alumni Burn Gorman and Michael Greco are the latest stars to join the cast of The Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes.
Gorman will play Commander Hoff, a peacekeeper sent to District 12 by the Capitol, while Greco’s character is Strabo Plinth who, alongside Daniela Grubert’s Mrs. Plinth, are the wealthy parents of Coriolanus Snow’s friend Sejanus Plinth.
Other additions to the cast include Fionnula Flanagan as Coriolanus’s strict grandmother, Isobel Jesper Jones as Mayfair Lipp, daughter of the mayor of District 12 and Flora Li Thiemann as Livia Cardew, the mentor to a tribute from District 1.

Honor Gillies, Eike Onyambu and Konstantin Taffet will play a group of nomads in District 12, while Scott Folan and Carl Spencer will join Gorman as peacekeepers.
Gorman, who played Night’s Watch brother Karl Tanner in the fantasy series, isn’t the only Thrones alumni to join the film either. Earlier this year it was announced that Peter Dinklage had been cast as Casca Highbottom.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes follows the story of young Coriolanus Snow, years before he becomes the tyrannical President of Panem known in the original films. The 18-year-old Coriolanus, the last hope from the once proud family, is tasked with mentoring a young girl, Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), in the upcoming Hunger Games.

Francis Lawrence, who directed Catching Fire, Mockingjay Part One, and Mockingjay Part Two, will be back to direct again. The film is an adaption of Hunger Games author Suzanne Collins’ novel of the same name.
Collins will also serve as an executive producer alongside Tim Palen and Jim Miller.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will be released in cinemas on November 17, 2023. The previous Hunger Games movies are available to stream on Prime Video UK.
