The Golden Globes nominations are set to be announced on Thursday 6 December, but there will be some high-profile shows not among this year’s list.
While Game Of Thrones and Stranger Things received nominations at this year’s ceremony, the two mammoth shows will be absent from the next batch of nominees because they haven’t aired in the 2018 calendar year.
With last year’s big winner Big Little Lies also out of the running, it means this year’s batch of shows could be the most surprising yet.
Despite its absence, Game Of Thrones has routinely had a poor showing at the Golden Globes; only receiving one nomination last year and having only won in 2012 for Peter Dinklage’s performance as Tyrion Lannister.
Stranger Things, meanwhile, is yet to win at the annual bash – picking up two nominations last year for Best Drama TV Series and Supporting Actor In A Series for David Harbour.
Game Of Thrones, Stranger Things and Veep will be hoping for a better run in 2019, with all three eligible to be nominated next year.
The former will especially be hoping for glory considering it’s the final eighth season – so maybe the Golden Globes will recognise the show at the final hurdle?
So who is looking likely for this year’s run? Last year’s winner The Marvelous Mrs Maisel will likely be back for returned success with season two, while the likes of Killing Eve, GLOW and Atlanta could all receive recognition.
Nominations for the 76th annual Golden Globes will be announced on 6 December.
