A Game of Thrones animated drama is reportedly in the works at HBO Max.

Meetings with writers are said to be underway for a potential new series, which could begin the franchise’s expansion at WarnerMedia.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, an animated edition is in the early stages of development, with the adult-learning project thought to have a similar tone to the original show.

The animation is yet to be officially confirmed, but it’s one of the more intriguing prospects for a spin-off so far.

It’s the latest development in the world of Game Of Thrones. The reports come after HBO announced the casting for prequel series House of the Dragon.

Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke and Emma D’Arcy will lead the drama, with production set to begin in the spring.

The series focuses on the Targaryen family centuries before the beloved HBO fantasy drama and it will feature Paddy Considine as King Viserys I.

Game of Thrones fans might be getting another glimpse of Westeros too, as a second prequel is reportedly in early development at HBO.

The network is thought to be developing a prequel based on author George RR Martin’s series Tales of Dunk and Egg.

The novellas are set in the same world as A Song Of Ice and Fire, the books Game Of Thrones was based on, with the events taking place about 90 years beforehand.

Game of Thrones is available to stream on NOW TV.
