A compilation of important Barristan Selmy moments from season one of Game of Thrones. Not every scene where Barristan appears is included, since the point was to gather the moments where Barristan is in focus or atleast in a greater role, and scenes which build the character or give insight into him. Some scenes are also cut, to remove the parts which are not directly relevant to Barristan himself.

  13. Notice how the announcer guy emphasises "Protector of the Realm". Maybe the members of court had forewarning about Robert's dying wish. Perhaps Renly spread the rumour that Ned had been named Protector before he left so he could eliminate ned who would enter the war on Stannis' side.

I really want to see Barristan vengeance over all the injustice he has witnessed..he s an honorable man just like Edd..the mutual respect between the two..i just hope he will serve justice over the name of Starks-Baratheons (judging how cercei murdered robert by having someone drop stuff into his wine while hunting)

  24. Even Tywin later admits this was one of Joffrey's and Cercei's biggest blunders. Dismissing Selmy from his guard, the years of experience and skills lost there, only an idiot would take such an option. Gotta love how Cersei managed to blunder her way through the Kingdom; failing to raise Joffrey properly, failing to understand how to rule, failing to understand anything around her.

  31. That's the prickly peril of backstory: it informs the reader, but at the same time in real life people who've known each other for years would hardly ever talk on and on about stuff that they've all experienced.  Someone would say, "Robert we already know this." or "Why are you bringing up shit we already resolved."
