So the season seven finale has come and gone this week but in true Game of Thrones fashion we can’t stop talking about it – and neither can the actors.
Linda finally reveals her secret in tonight’s EastEnders
There are currently hundreds, maybe thousands of Game of Thrones theories flying about but the most talked about one, after the one about Jon Snow’s relation to Daenerys, is the one that suggesting Bran Stark is the Night King.
The Bran and Night King theory relates to Bran time-travelling back to when the Children Of The Forest accidentally created the White Walker leader by stabbing a man with dragonglass – with the theory believing Bran warged himself into the man in question.
We’ve seen Bran warg into animals, which essentially means to take over their bodies and see everything through their eyes, and we’ve seen him warg into the loveable Hodor back in season six.
The idea really stems from the fact the Stark lad and the leader both have this eerie connection to birds and also the nice little Easter Egg that fans noticed in this weeks finale – as the army of dead broke through The Wall, they formed a formation that looking a lot like the House Stark sigil of a dire wolf.
But Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays Bran, has totally crushed the dreams of fans who so desperately want this fan theory to be true.
In a new interview, the 18-year-old suggested that the two characters are not the same after all.
Asked about a resemblance between the two, The Awakening star told Vulture: ‘Maybe. I think it’s less that they’re the same person and more that they are two of the ancient beings of Westeros.
‘The Three-Eyed Raven has been around for God knows how long, and White Walkers have been reported since the beginning of time. As we’ve seen, they were created by the Children of the Forest, so we can’t get much more ancient than that.
‘Perhaps we can think of it as these are two characters with a huge amount of power, but one is a Frankenstein’s monster who is driven by nothing but hatred and violence. Then there’s Bran, who uses his powers for good.’
He added: ‘I want to find out why the Night King is so obsessed with destroying mankind. We’ll see whether they have any kind of explanations in the next season. Hopefully, we’ll find out cool stuff about both of those characters.’
So in short, Bran and the Night King seem oddly alike and aligned because they are both old AF.
It has to be noted that Isaac isn’t the scriptwriter and hasn’t even seen the script for season eight – so maybe the showrunners will give some of you exactly what you want.
We will have to wait until the eighth and final season returns, possibly in 2019.
