Game of Thrones aired its divisive finale earlier in the year but fans are still debating over a number of controversial storylines that played out in the last few episodes.

The HBO epic killed off a number of fan favourites in season eight continuing a theme that was present throughout Game of Thrones.

One character who could have made a big difference in the final season was Brynden ‘Blackfish’ Tully (played by Clive Russell) who was killed in season six.

However one fan has exposed a clue they think proves Blackfish survived the battle at Riverrun.

Reddit user, EunuchLoserLame wrote a number of theories which they believe suggest that the Game of Thrones story can continue.

They said: “The Blackfish is pronounced dead, killed in battle after his nephew surrounded his castle. But no body.”

Although a number of deaths were announced in the series without proof of a body, if Blackfish did survive it could have led to shocking twists in the final episodes.

Blackfish is the uncle of Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) and was last seen during the second siege of Riverrun after regaining control of it from Lord Walder Frey (David Bradley).

Despite his willingness to defend Riverrun his nephew Edmure Tully (Tobias Menzies) surrenders the castle to the Lannisters who are assisting the Freys.

Later on a Lannister solider reports that Blackfish was killed while resisting arrest but his body was never shown.

If Blackfish did survive he may have joined his great-niece Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) in the North and advised Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) to stay away from Kings Landing.

Viewers saw Blackfish as a blunt and cynical man, could he have predicted the fall of Kings Landing and Daenerys Targaryen’s (Emilia Clarke) descent into the Mad Queen?

Meanwhile another fan has theorised a big flaw in Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) that if sorted, could have changed everything.

Discussing the beloved character, Reddit user, Thinker_145 has detailed what they think was wrong with Tyrion.

They noted that the character changes a lot about the way he acts and thinks at the smallest hint of betrayals.

The forum poster said: “Having done a rematch of the series I am even more baffled at Tyrion than before. He is not only a treasonous character from season seven finale onwards but also incredibly stupid.

“His ‘soft corner’ for Cersei is complete madness. In season seven finale he apologises for what happened to her daughter and he also then says that he intends to save his house rather than destroying it.

“He kind of forgot that this woman legit tried to have him killed twice and he was privy to that. Having a more fresh perspective of his time in King’s Landing and all the things Cersei did to him, I simply could not stand that scene between him and her in season seven finale.”(sic)

Ultimately Tyrion cared too much for his family to see what they were truly capable of.

Perhaps if he didthe destruction that took place in the lead up to finale could have been avoided.
