Game of Thrones fans have reached peak excitement for season eight, they’ve actually been there for months, but the new 2020 calendar may put some of you off tuning into the fantasy epic when it returns next year.
George R.R. Martin’s literary series is packed with horrors yet to make it onto the HBO epic. This one, we’re fine with leaving out: Giant ice spiders. Feel free to let out whatever four-letter expletives are swirling around your head right now. Let them out.
They have popped up in conversation before, which was bad enough, when back in season one Old Nan warned Bran Stark that beyond the wall the White Walkers ‘swept through cities and kingdoms, riding their dead horses, hunting with their packs of pale spiders big as hounds.’
As big as hounds…
With the biggest battle on television heading our way in episode three of the final chapter, and Gwendoline Christie dropping in that we’ll need ‘therapy’ once season eight is over. Basically, they’re coming to haunt your dreams for all eternity which is the price you pay for the greatest show on television.
But don’t think comes May 2019 when we know who will sit on the Iron Throne, who is left still standing and whether … because there’s still prequel The Long Night – which HBO denied calling the Long Night but we all know is called The Long Night – which will basically explore all of Old Nan’s folklores.
That eight-legged bombshell comes after Game of Thrones released a cryptic new trailer which, obviously, fans have torn apart and worked out which key characters will die because they’re eternally optimistic like that.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019 with seasons one to seven available to stream on NOW TV.
