“Game of Thrones” is taking over AT&T’s flagship store in the Back Bay on Tuesday, and all we can say is, “winning is coming.” HBO is setting up the ultimate GOT experience at the Boylston Street spot, where fans can enter for the chance to win the mother of all prizes: a trip in its Dragon Wagon to the world premiere of the hit show’s eighth and final season.
Westeros worshipers are invited to visit the store from noon to 6 p.m. to ensure they have a shot at attending the once-in-a-lifetime red carpet experience in New York. Five lucky folks will find out later that night if they’ve won seats on the decked-out luxury bus that HBO is sending from Boston to NYC on Wednesday morning, just in time to attend the epic preview.
While in New York, the Dragon Wagon winners will also have reserved spots in the Fanzone, where they’ll be able to catch a glimpse of their favorite cast members at the otherwise invite-only affair. They’ll also be among the select group of people who get to see the debut episode before it airs for the rest of the world on April 14. And following the exclusive screening, they’ll all re-board the Dragon Wagon and return to the Hub, where they’ll reserve the right to brag for — let’s see — ever and ever.
Contest aside, Bostonians who hit up the GOT event in town will enjoy some pretty sweet perks. For one thing, they can meet Kristian Nairn, aka the beloved Hodor (may he rest in peace) on the hit show. The actor will be sticking around the store to greet devotees, take photos and, who knows, hold the door. Other means of nerding out onsite will include: an Iron Throne, where people can sit and lay claim to the seven kingdoms; an assortment of costumes worn by the cast; and the opportunity to play Magic Leap’s much-anticipated AR game “The Dead Must Die,” an immersive experience that will have players coming face to face with a White Walker.
