Warning: Contains potential spoilers for Game Of Thrones season eight.
Jaime Lannister looks set to go all the way in the final season of Game Of Thrones, with a spoiler emerging from the unlikeliest of places.
It was previously claimed Jaime, played by actor Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, will only appear in four of season eight’s six episodes – leading many to believe he’ll meet a typically gruesome fate in the battle for the Iron Throne.
Court documents from a lawsuit between Coster-Waldau and his former manager Jill Littman, however, have revealed the actor will appear in all six – having earned a whopping $1,066,667 (£825,525) per episode.
While the documents appear to show Coster-Waldau was only paid for four episodes in season eight, two payments are included at the bottom for a further two episodes.
So does this mean Jaime could be a frontrunner to take the Iron Throne? It’d certainly be a massive turnaround from his ‘Kingslayer’ title at the show’s outset.
It could, however, simply mean Jaime will be killed off in the finale – but either way we’ll be seeing a whole lot of, arguably, the show’s best character in season eight.
Speaking with The Huffington Post back in August, Coster-Waldau explained why he was satisfied with the show’s ending, saying: ‘I wrote the writers when I finished reading and just said, “I don’t think you could’ve done a better job at finishing this story.”
‘To me, it was very satisfying but also very surprising and all the things that I was hoping for. It still made sense. It wasn’t like one of those where the killer is suddenly revealed in the last act and you go, “Oh! I didn’t see that coming.” Here, they’ve done a really, really good job.’
Game Of Thrones season eight is set to be released in early 2019.
