Game of Thrones season finale left fans on the edge of their seats as a dramatic turn of events saw Daenerys Targryen (Played by Emilia Clarke) burn King’s Landing to the ground in the fifth episode of the final outing.
Desperate for the Throne, the Mother of Dragons flew above King’s Landing setting fire to soldiers and civilians alike.
Whilst not all fans were surprised Daenerys had a dark side at this point in the outing, it seems her actions may have been a lot more obvious than fans originally thought.
Reddit user QueenSalsaFan took to the site to share a recent clue from Bran’s (Isaac Hempstead Wright) vision in season four that may have foreshadowed the Mother of Dragon’s violent next move.
The user said: “In the script written by GRRM for Lion and the Rose episode. Bran among others, have this vision, which confirm that KL will be burn by dragon. This is directly from author.”
The script read: “The shadow of a dragon passes across the rooftops of a great city where Bran has never been.”
Indeed, the show gave great emphasis to Bran’s visions of the dragon flying over King’s landing, with the image being shown more than once.
However, not all fans are convinced that this foreshadowed by the script, as the original text had already left a number of hints the Mother of Dragons was to burn King’s landing.
One user commented:”But at this point it’s pretty clear Daenerys is going to burn King’s Landing down in the books.
“It’s not something D&D would be brave enough to come up with on their own and they’ve admitted to have planned this from the very start.”
Moreover, the vision made no mention of the dragon setting fire to King’s Landing or which dragon Bran saw.
Nonetheless, Daenerys’ actions was ultimately what lead to her death as many characters began to plot against her.
The finale say Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) forced to kill his love to save more innocent people dying in her race to power.
However, in another clue, one fan theorised that Daenerys’ downfall was sealed by the Night’s Watch in season one.
Reddit user TheDaysKing said: “Upon initially watching the first season/reading the first book, I pretty much just considered the Night’s Watch oaths to be something the original Night’s Watch thought sounded cool.
“And that may be, but as the series went on, and Jon Snow’s journey as a man of the Night’s Watch progressed, I began to feel that the oaths had a deeper, more specific meaning for Jon’s narrative.”
The Game of Thrones fan then went on to break down the Night’s Watch oaths which Jon vowed to live by when he joined earlier on in the series.
The user argued the line “I shall take no wife, hold no lands, father no children,” is an explanation as to why Jon’s relationships all end in “tragedy”.
The user said: “Despite whatever section (or third) chances at love Jon finds, these romances are as doomed to tragedy as his relationship with Ygritte.”
These oaths could prove Daenerys death was sealed from very early on in the HBO series.
