The writing on this season is pure trash… the action scenes are great but the plot line this season is such garbage. HBO getting sloppy here towards the end

When Beric and Thoros light up their swords

I feel like this whole plot line, while badass, was just here to kill off visarion. If it wasn't they could have easily just sent a dragon north of the wall, grab a white, and bring him south. No huge battle required.

so implausible that they'd have to convince cersei by capturing a wight, particularly after decimating a major chunk of her army, and with major characters being able to time travel and cross great distances in the time it takes for one to take a dump.
they could have just destroyed what was left of the lannisters and prepared for the invasion. .
