A director on Game Of Thrones has offered his thoughts on the final season, believing it was ‘a bit of a rush’ as it approached the end.
The HBO fantasy show came to an end in May this year on a divisive note, with many criticising the show for speeding through storylines.
Neil Marshall, who directed past episodes Blackwater and The Watchers On The Wall, has since offered his verdict which falls relatively in line with many people’s criticism.
Speaking to The Sun Online, Neil said: ‘Ultimately all the characters ended up where they were meant to be, but I think some of them got there in a bit of a rush.
‘I agree that it was a bit of a rush. It felt like things weren’t set up well enough. But they all ended up where they were meant to be, though, I got that.’
Game Of Thrones creator George RR Martin recently expressed his thoughts on the finale, claiming the final season generally was ‘not completely faithful’.
‘Sometimes their creative vision and your creative vision don’t match,’ Martin said about TV adaptations. ‘And you get the famous creative differences thing – that leads to a lot of conflict.
‘The [final] series has been… not completely faithful. Otherwise, it would have to run another five seasons.
‘You get totally extraneous things like the studio or the network weighing in, and they have some particular thing that has nothing to do with story, but relates to “Well this character has a very high Q Rating so let’s give him a lot more stuff to do.”’
Game Of Thrones seasons one to eight are available on NOW TV.
