Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke and Doctor Strange‘s Chiwetel Ejiofor are starring in a new sci-fi romantic comedy set in the age of AI.
The Pod Generation follows a New York couple who decide to start a family using detachable artificial wombs, or pods, created to allow couples to share carrying the child.
Rachel, played by Clarke, gets access to the technology through her work and Alvy, played by Ejiofor, is less trusting of technology, but agrees to give it a try and take their relationship into the future.

Filming is set to start in March next year, with Sophie Barthes directing. This marks her third feature film, after Cold Souls starring Paul Giamatti and Emily Watson, and Madame Bovary starring Mia Wasikowska, Rhys Ifans and Ezra Miller.
“Working with Emilia and Chiwetel as a couple on screen is a dream come true,” Barthes said (via Variety). “Emilia’s versatility, her disarming sense of humor and capacity to navigate complex emotions are a perfect match to Chiwetel’s charisma and extraordinary screen presence.”
Ejiofor’s career has gone from strength to strength in recent years, obtaining Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations and a Best Actor BAFTA for his role in 12 Years a Slave. He also voiced Scar in the live-action remake of The Lion King and has portrayed Karl Mordo in Marvel’s Doctor Strange, which has its second instalment on the way next year.

She is also set to star in McCarthy, an upcoming biopic about demagogic US senator Joseph McCarthy, as his wife Jean Kerr.
A release date for The Pod Generation is yet to be confirmed.
