Emilia Clarke is the saviour in the battle against Photoshop – if her latest impassioned plea is anything to go by.
The Game Of Thrones actress may be owning screens as Daenerys in the HBO epic (who’s ready for season eight, eh?), however over in real life she’s also being a total boss.
It isn’t a newfound power, though, as she admits even in the early days of her career she was prepared to call out the wrongs and perceived injustices.
Speaking about her utter dislike for Photoshop and the editing of one’s body, she recalled hashing it out with a producer on one of her early films over a promotional poster of her.
You see, she didn’t agree the size of her assets on print correlated to her IRL boobs.
Speaking to one of the showrunners, 32-year-old Emilia said: ‘Hey guys, I ain’t got no DDs [sic].
‘I’m very happy with what I’ve got, and it’s not what you’ve put on that poster.’
She continued to Miss Vogue that she wanted the whole editing toolbox taken away as it promoted unrealistic beauty standards that are ‘all fake’.
‘Seriously. Now we’re really screwed because we’ve got the editing, we’ve got the shading, we’ve got all that b**ody nonsense,’ she said. ‘They don’t look like that. Ain’t nobody look like that [sic]!’
The actress said she struggled with the idea the ‘girl next door’ is now editing her photos to keep up with the standards seen elsewhere.
And for that, they should be banned.
‘I think that the apps that make people airbrush themselves and look thinner or look clearer skinned should be banned,’ she added. ‘I don’t think this s**t should be on the phone for young people. I do not agree with it, I do not like it, it doesn’t make me feel good.’
She encouraged us to do a Sheryl Sandberg of sorts and ‘lean into your body type’ no matter what the measurements say.
And this is why we need this woman to rule.
Game Of Thrones series eight premieres 14 April.
