Daenerys Targaryen (played by Emilia Clarke) had undoubtedly one of the most transformative, harrowing, brutal and heartbreaking arcs during her time in Game of Thrones. Over the course of eight seasons, Daenerys had gone from a pawn used by brother Viserys (Harry Lloyd) for the Dothraki to Queen of the Seven Kingdoms after burning King’s Landing to ashes. However, the formidable Targaryen’s reign on the Iron Throne was put to an abrupt halt by the blade of Jon Snow (Kit Harington), with HBO viewers last seeing her body being carried into the wilderness by dragon Drogon.

After destroying Westeros’ capital city in the Game of Thrones season eight finale, all that was left for Daenerys to do was to take her seat on the Iron Throne.

Daenerys had finally overcome Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and her army after years of bloodshed and war – although her entire moral compass appeared to go out of the door.

Armed with warriors from the North, the Dothraki, the Unsullied and her dragon Drogon, Daenerys took over King’s Landing but even though Cersei surrendered, the Targaryen warrior wasn’t done.

Drogon burned the entire city to ashes, killing its population, destroying its buildings and, eventually, murdering Cersei in the arms of her brother Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau).

The bloodthirsty and murderous act Jon had just witnessed hit a nerve with her lover and nephew.

And after witnessing the murderous display, Jon took matters into his own hands to put an end to her reign of terror.

With the pair alone in front of the Iron Throne, Jon and Dany shared one final kiss before he plunged his dagger into her torso.

Jon was left in tears as Daenerys died in his arms before Drogon arrived to find his ‘mother’s’ lifeless body.

Emilia shared her theory in upcoming book Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series [via TV Line].

According to the GOT star: “I think he flies around with her body until it decomposes.

“I literally think he keeps flying until he can’t fly anymore, he just keeps grieving.”

So could it be true that Daenerys was never given a proper resting place, instead simply rotting away in her dragon’s arms?
