Emilia Clarke has bleak and beautiful theory about Daenerys’ Game of Thrones death (Picture: HBO)

Emilia Clarke has shared what she thinks happened to Daenerys Targaryen’s corpse following the end of Game of Thrones and her theory is both bleak and beautiful at the same time.

The 33-year-old starred as The Mother of Dragons for all eight seasons of the fantasy epic, until she was killed by her lover and nephew Jon Snow (Kit Harington) in that divisive finale.

After torching the Iron Throne, Dany’s one surviving dragon, Drogon, took her body in his mouth and flew away from King’s Landing.

More than a year after Daenerys’ demise, Emilia has revealed what she thinks happened to her heroine turned arsonist.

In the upcoming book from Entertainment Weekly’s James Hibbard, Fire Cannot Kill a Dragon: Game of Thrones and the Official Untold Story of the Epic Series, according to TV Line, Emilia said: ‘I think he flies around with her body until it decomposes.

‘I literally think he keeps flying until he can’t fly anymore. He just keeps grieving.’

He’s not the only one.

Game of Thrones fans were in mourning as the HBO juggernaut came to an end, not only mourning the characters but the quality of the show which became tarnished by the final six episodes and a rogue coffee cup.

Thankfully, there’s room for redemption. HBO has since confirmed Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is due to hit screens in 2022.

Following the origins of House Targaryen, the spin-off will explore Daenerys’ family tree with The Outsider star Paddy Considine confirmed to play the lead as King Viserys Targaryen.

And it’s rumoured he’ll be joined by Vikings star Travis Fimmel.

Game of Thrones is available to stream on NOW TV. House of The Dragon is landing on HBO in 2022.
