As the White Walkers prepare to descend on Winterfell, it is set to be one of the biggest battles that Westeros has ever seen.
None of the characters are safe as the Night King sends in his army of the dead to try and kill every living person.
It’s not clear who, if anybody, will be able to make it alive and more great houses could be wiped from existence.
While families like the Baratheons and Tyrells having seemingly been almost completely removed from the world, some of the great houses like the Starks and Lannisters still remain, in some form.
Ahead of tonight’s battle, here is everything you need to know about some of the houses in Winterfell and how many of their family members are still alive.
House Stark family tree
The Starks are one of the most popular houses among fans with Ned Stark winning the hearts of many viewers before his execution at the end of season one.
We later saw his wife Catelyn Stark and son Robb Stark brutally murdered during the Red Wedding in season three.
Since then Benjen and Rickon have been the only other Starks to die, with Benjen dying at the hands of the White Walkers to save Jon Snow, while Rickon was killed by an arrow fired by Ramsey Bolton.
This means that Sansa, Bran and Arya are three remaining survivors of the Starks, along with Jon Snow who discovered this season that he is actually the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen.
House Lannister family tree
Tywin, the original head of the Lannister house was killed by his son Tyrion Lannister in season four.
Tyrion and his two siblings Cersei and Jaime are the only survivors of the main Lannister family.
Joffrey was poisoned at his own wedding by Lady Olenna, Myrcella was poisoned by Ellaria in Dorne, while Tommen jumped from his bedroom window after the death of his wife Margaery Tyrell.
It was revealed early in the series that the three children were in fact the kids of Cersei and Jaime, instead of Cersei and Robert Baratheon.
House Targaryen family tree
Daenerys was believed to be the last surviving Targaryen following the death of her brother Viserys at the hands of Khal Drogo.
In season seven it was revealed that Jon Snow was actually the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, who had married in secret during Robert’s Rebellion.
His real name is Aegon Targaryen, and his parents’ marriage makes him the rightful heir to the Iron Throne.
This makes Jon Snow and Daenerys the only two surviving members of House Targaryen.
House Greyjoy family tree
The Greyjoy family is currently divided in its allegiances, as both Yara and Theon are loyal to Daenerys Targaryen, while Euron is currently working alongside Cersei Lannister in King’s Landing.
Euron killed his brother Balon Greyjoy and later won support from the Ironborn, which later led to him kidnapping his niece Yara.
Theon later rescues her from Euron’s ship, but the two then separate as Yara returns to the Iron Islands while Theon travels to Winterfell to fight alongside the Starks.
Game Of Thrones returns tonight on HBO and Sky Atlantic. And will be available to watch on NOW TV.
