Warning: Contains spoilers for Game Of Thrones season seven.
Game Of Thrones fans reckon they’ve worked out the motives behind the Night King for season eight, and it’s pretty convincing.

One of the massive questions hanging over the show is the motives behind the Night King and his army of White Walkers, having so far been an unstoppable force who seem quite happy causing death and misery for the lolz.
Fan twerkmileyyy on Reddit however may have clocked why the Night King wants to tear down The Wall and venture into Westeros, claiming he wants to reach the God’s Eye.
Not enough explanation for you? God’s Eye is the location of the Isle Of Faces where the Children Of The Forest made their peace agreement with mankind – which also apparently holds magical properties.
The theory reads: ‘Ultimately I think his end goal is to reach the Isles of Faces and use its magical properties to give life to his undead army.’
They also point how the Night King targeted the Eastwatch By The Sea, which is the closest part of the Wall to the God’s Eye – so was he planning his quickest route?
In some excellent internet collaboration, another fan has built upon this theory with the much-speculated notion of Bran being the Night King.
They explain: ‘Bran orchestrates everything to bring peace to Westeros. And the only way he can do it is by becoming the Night King, raising an army of undead and marching them to the God’s Eye where he will destroy the ancient Children Of The Forest magic.
‘It turns everyone from Wights back into fully healthy humans, exactly as they were at the moment of their death.’
While Bran actor Isaac Hempstead Wright has previously shut down the Night King theory, it certainly neatly ties together a number of ideas, even if we’re not convinced Bran is concerned with being the saviour of Westeros.
