All theories are pointing to Jon Snow killing Daenerys Targaryen and we’re never going to be ready (Picture: HBO)

The questions surrounding Game of Thrones’ final chapter are only mounting by the second, and until season 8 comes along they’re only going to keep coming.

But the speculation surrounding Jon Snow and Daeneyrs Targaryen is without a doubt escalating more than any other resident of the Seven Kingdoms and, sadly, most theories are pointing to King of the North eventually slaying the Mother of Dragons.

The latest suggests Jon will prevail as the reincarnation of Azor Ahai – the legendary hero, who, according to an ancient prophecy, wielded a burning sword called the Lightbarer, chosen to fight against the darkness which hung over the world.

However, to make such a weapon, Azor Ahai had to sacrifice his lover Nissa Nissa.

The Red Witch, Melissandre, often refers to Azor Ahai, as the ancient books of Asshai claim the warrior is to be reborn again after a long summer of evil.

Enter the Bastard of Winterfell. Though, should fans be right the future doesn’t bode well for our Dany.

Reddit user u/jman797 wrote: ‘So most people think Jon Snow/ you know what is Azor Ahai, right?

‘The first sword Azor Ahai forged was plunged into water. The second was plunged into the heart of a lion. The third was plunged into the heart of his wife.

‘Dany and Jon obviously love each other, given that scene in 7-6, so I think it’s possible that if Jon truly is Azor Ahai reborn, well…. I damn well hope there’s no marriage in store for him.

‘One reason I think this will happen is because he’s confirmed Rhaegar’s son, so Dany is not Queen. If he married her, and killed her like the first Azor Ahai, it clears the way for: A: The true king of Westeros, by birth at least. B: Azor Ahai, the one foretold in the prophecy of Fire and Ice.

‘I dunno if it’ll happen, and maybe it won’t, but by god Jon better not forge any sword any time soon.’

Another theory recently suggested Daenerys envisioned her death all the way back in season two.

Our hearts are already breaking.

What’s more, the Game of Thrones cast have all unanimously insisted the finale will leave us all divided, which can really only spell one thing: disaster.

Sadly, we’ve still got quite the wait as winter will have come and gone before we return to Westeros at all.

Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019.
