GAME of Thrones fans have noticed a blunder involving Robb Stark’s legendary sword.
Despite the show coming to an end last year, some fans may have hit upon a confusing aspect of the show’s mythology.
The HBO show was lauded for its incredible production value and breathtaking sets, props and locations.
However, in the earlier seasons the show introduced an iconic weapon that has accidentally caused a major mix-up among viewers.
In the first series, Ice is used to behead Ned Stark, which was kept as a badge of honour for the Lannisters before it was melted down.
However, what happened to the sword after Ned’s death has recently caused a stir among Game of Thrones’ most loyal and devoted fans.
One fan took to Reddit to discuss the sword, seemingly believing that his son, Robb Stark (Richard Madden) must have taken it at some point.
One user asked: “How did Robb get Ice? Ned had it when he went to King’s Landing. The only explanation I can come up with is that Littlefinger brought it when he brought Ned’s bones to Catelyn.”
From afar, it appears as though Robb’s sword looked very similar to that of Ice, but other fans stated that it is untrue.
Throughout the show, the closest Robb ever got to having the sword all to himself was when he asked that Ice take ownership of House Stark, which the Lannisters failed to honour.
As a greatsword, Ice was so huge it probably could have even been melted down so members of House Lannister could have two swords.
One fan replied: “Robb never had Ice. Ice was melted down into two swords, one for Joffrey and one for Jamie Lannister. Once Joffrey died Jamie stole both swords and gave one to Brienne of Tarth.”
The baffling status of the sword further illustrated one of the significant issues fans had with the later seasons of Game of Thrones.
Another fan commented: “And to be honest the characters dart around Westeros impossibly fast so why not a sword as well!”
With the series’ first spin-off, House of the Dragon, in the works, fans are hoping these issues will be ironed out as the earlier history of Westeros is set to be explored.
