Game of Thrones season eight is here and episode two featured a surprising moment from squire Podrick Payne (played by Daniel Portman) who burst into song in the final moments.
It’s not the first time Pod has surprised us, however, as his unexpected sexual prowess was revealed back in season three but the actor has said it resulted in some uncomfortable hands-on attention.
In an interview with Esquire, Portman, 27, said: ‘I’ve been grabbed by so many… like the amount of older, older women who are very (grabby).’
Discussing the now infamous brothel scene and how it led to him earning such a sex god reputation on and off screen, Portman said he didn’t know his life would change so much because of it.
‘I was 20 when that happened, so it was kind of like a kid in a candy shop.
‘When you tell a 20-year-old actor, who’s sort of stumbled onto this big TV show, that all of a sudden you’re meant to be Casanova, people all over the world wonder whether or not it’s true.
‘I would be lying if I said that that hadn’t been fun.’
Fans have crossed the line however and it’s ‘not cool’.
‘What can you do? You know? Obviously tell them not to do it,’ Portman explained.
‘It hasn’t happened for a while. In this day and age you’d think that people would be able to separate reality from fiction.
‘I don’t want to say it comes with the territory, but, you know, people are crazy about it. It’s certainly not cool.’
Ultimately, the Scottish actor said he feels lucky to play a character who is, er, well-endowed and referenced the unfortunate fate of Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen).
‘It’s really not a bad thing, to be tied to your character.
‘Some guy had his d*** cut off. Then you’ve got a guy who’s meant to be this f****** stallion, out of nowhere.’
Episode three will see Pod take part in what is expected to be the longest battle in the show’s history.
Here’s hoping he survives.
Game of Thrones season 8, episode 3 will air on Sunday and Monday on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
