Game Of Thrones fans have raised thousands of pounds in support of Kit Harington after he entered rehab.
The actor checked into rehab as he struggled to deal with the end of Game Of Thrones, and is being treated for stress and ‘personal issues’.
The original report, released in PageSix, suggests that the British actor is seeking solace at $120,000 (£94,000) a month luxury wellness retreat Privé-Swiss in Connecticut, where he has access to psychological coaching, cognitive behavioral therapy and meditation.
A representative for Kit confirmed in a statement to Metro.co.uk: ‘Kit has decided to utilise this break in his schedule as an opportunity to spend some time at a wellness retreat to work on some personal issues.’
He has allegedly been in rehab for the last month with the full support of his wife Rose Leslie. He checked in weeks before the final episode of Game Of Thrones aired in the UK and US.
Fans are donating to a crowdfunding page set up to show support as Kit focuses on his recovery.
A group at the Reddit page r/Freefolk are asking other fans to ‘contribute to the charity Mencap, which Kit has been supporting for years’.
The JustGiving page reads: ‘Kit Harington has given so much to the fans of Game of Thrones over the past decade playing the King in the North, Jon Snow. He absolutely nailed his performance and we loved every second of screentime we had with him.
‘This fundraiser is here to show Kit that we’re incredibly thankful to him for the sheer amount of love and skill he put into Jon Snow for us to enjoy.’
Mencap is a UK charity that supports people with a learning disability as well as their families and carers.
At the time of writing, £40,950 has been raised, roughly £10,00 short of the £50,000 target.
Earlier this year Harington appeared in a campaign video for Mencap, talking about his cousin Laurent who has a learning disability.
‘It’s important that people are given the choice and opportunity to live life in the way they wish and Mencap helps them do just this,’ he explains.
Harington played Jon Snow on Game Of Thrones since the show began in 2011. It ran for eight seasons with the last ever episode airing last month.
