Game of Thrones fans just realised Daenerys’ dragons aren’t actually dragons (Picture: HBO)

Game of Thrones fans love nothing more than a conspiracy theory and the latest one may prove that everything you knew about Daenerys and her dragons is a complete sham.

The Mother of Dragons may not actually be the mother of dragons at all after viewers have realised that her winged flame-breathing children aren’t dragons: they’re wyverns.

A Reddit post from user 4h0y1m4p1r4t3 has struck a chord with over 2,000 responses, after pointing out that a dragon boasts four legs and two wings while a wyvern has two legs and two wings, using its wings as an extra pair of legs.

And Daenerys’ so-called’ ‘dragons’ actually fall into the latter category. Mind. Blown.

Daenerys is the overwhelming favourite to die in season eight of Game of Thrones (Picture: HBO)

Steering into season eight, Daenerys is the overwhelming favourite to see her head on the chopping block after reflecting on the biggest deaths building up to the final chapter in Game of Thrones.

IFLScience uncovered a pattern which has so far accurately sealed the fate of the fallen heroes of the past seven seasons, as there is one glaring similarity which binds many of them together.

‘Following the researchers’ key indicators, Daenerys Targaryen could be in some seriously hot water. That’s because characters most likely to survive were ones who had switched allegiance at least once,’ they said.

‘Apparently, sticking true to your convictions is a surefire way to get nixed. ‘However, strong females were more likely to make it than their male counterparts, as were highborns, which could mean the fickle-minded backstabbing current queen of Westeros, Cersei Lannister, could be in for quite the season.

‘For our guys, this could mean good things for Tyrion Lannister and the breathtaking (disclaimer: this writer may be biased) bastard son Jon Snow, who both took a knee for the Mother of Dragons.

‘Similarly, Jaime Lannister put the odds in his favor by disavowing his sister (also lover) at the end of last season.’

Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in April 2019.
