Game of Thrones prequel series House of the Dragon is now well under way, and hopes for a Jon Snow sequel just got even stronger.

Ever since House of the Dragon was first announced, fans have wondered if a spin-off featuring a Game of Thrones character would ever get made.

Their dreams got closer to being realised when credible reports of a Jon Snow sequel surfaced earlier this year, and more good news could now be on the way.

TV producer Daniel West, who developed BBC series Gunpowder alongside Snow’s actor, Kit Harington, is reportedly working on an ‘untitled’ limited series for HBO.

West, who also co-wrote Netflix’s reboot of crime drama Top Boy, worked closely with Harington, 35, to develop the Guy Fawkes drama.

Eagle-eyed Game of Thrones fans noticed the update to West’s credits page on his agent’s website and posted vital screenshots to social media.

While nothing has been officially confirmed or given the green light by HBO or Harington himself, that hasn’t stopped intense excitement from brewing.

On Reddit, the news was shared by user Mamula1, who said: ‘As we expected, [Daniel] is probably working with Kit on Jon Snow’s sequel.’

‘And we have confirmation that this will be limited series,’ which likely means that the Jon Snow sequel – reportedly entitled Snow – will run for just one season.

In response, other users on the website gave their thoughts: ‘Limited series is definitely the way to go. A long-running show about Jon way in the North after [season 8] just wouldn’t work.’

After rumours of the series’ development surfaced in June 2022, Harington’s Game of Thrones co-star Emilia Clarke appeared to confirm them.

Speaking to the BBC, she said: ‘[Kit] has told me about it. And I know it exists. It’s happening. What you will be watching, hopefully, if it happens, is certified by Kit Harington.’

A Song of Ice and Fire author George RR Martin, upon whose books Game of Thrones was based, also appeared to confirm his involvement with the sequel soon after the rumours surfaced.

Addressing the news, he said: ‘It seems as though Emilia Clarke has already mentioned that Snow was Kit’s idea in a recent interview.

‘So that part is out. Yes, it was Kit Harington who brought the idea to us,’ he confirmed on his blog page, which he updates periodically.
