Note: Contains major spoilers for Game of Thrones episode five, ‘The Bells’.

Following the most recent Game of Thrones episode, fans of the show have come up with a theory around that beautiful white horse Arya Stark comes across.

It’s a haunting scene, right at the end of Daenerys Targaryen’s fiery attack on King’s Landing, and according to some viewers, the horse symbolises Arya’s true nature.

Apparently… she’s Death incarnate. And Dany is about to find that out the hard way.

One fan theorised: “Arya is death, riding on a pale horse on a path created by Daenerys herself. Arya kills Daenerys in the final episode. Daenerys literally paved the way for her own death with her dragon.”

Others were more biblical in their prediction, reciting actual scripture: “And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death,” adding: “#Arya kill #Daenerys.”

Somewhat surprisingly, this theory might have legs.

It stems from the Bible, and the Book of Revelation’s Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse – specifically, when Death gallops atop an “ashen horse”.

Arya has dealt out a whole heap of fatal blows across the eight seasons of Thrones, so could she be the one to end the bloodstained rise of the Mad Queen?

We’d be fools to doubt her.
