Game of Thrones is wrapped up, the long-awaited conclusion has been filmed and the fate of our beloved heroes is a done deal.
However, while we all wait on tenterhooks to see who will claim the Iron Throne – if anyone’s still standing – Sansa Stark actress Sophie Turner has predicted there will be a lot of disappointed fans out there when the fantasy epic comes to a close next year.
Sophie revealed her reaction to reading season eight’s closely guarded scripts, and delivered the immortal final page of the epic tale, seemingly alluding Sansa will still be standing as we arrive at the closing episode.
‘I think, you know, as an actor it was really satisfying – I think for everyone, everyone’s storylines – to be able to act out the way that it all ends. It was really satisfying for us,’ Turner told IGN.
‘Who knows if it will be satisfying for the fans. I think a lot of fans will be disappointed and a lot of fans will be over the moon, I think.
‘I think it will be really interesting to see people’s reactions, but for me reading the script it was just like heartbreaking to read at the very final page of the script it just says, “End of Game of Thrones”. That was really emotional.’
So if Sophie has read the final pages, surely Sansa is still standing at the end of season eight? Interesting..
The 22-year-old also teased Sansa will take ‘ownership over who she is and what she stand for’.
‘Over the course of the series she’s been completely unaware of what she wants, where she wants to be, who she really is, and at the end of this season, I feel she is the most self-assured character in the show,’ she added.
Turner’s comments come after her co-star Maisie Williams, who plays her on-screen sister, Arya Stark, confirmed the Game of Thrones finale is ‘incredible for women’.
Game of Thrones returns to HBO and Sky Atlantic in 2019.
