The script for the final episode of Game Of Thrones has been released online, providing a number of small details which may fuel the backlash even further.

Game Of Thrones came to a controversial end back in May this year, with cast members recently subjected to scrutiny over season eight’s flaws at San Diego Comic-Con.

The full script for the finale is now available online for anyone’s perusal, which has revealed finer details about the intention behind some key scenes.

The biggest question it answers is why Drogon melted the Iron Throne. Did you believe it was an act of profound symbolism to destroy the power-lust race which inevitably killed Daenerys Targaryen? Turns out, it was simply because it was there.

An excerpt from the script details the moment Jon Snow believed he was going to be killed by the dragon, before explaining: ‘But the blast is not for him. Drogon wants to burn the world but he will not kill Jon.’

After Drogon breathes fire on ‘the back wall’, it adds: ‘We look over Jon’s shoulder as the fire sweeps toward the throne – not the target of Drogon’s wrath, just a dumb bystander caught up in the conflagration.’

While it’s possible this interpretation was altered from the original script to filming, it’s not exactly comforting to see a big moment passed off as an accidental ‘dumb bystander’ which fell into place.

If you want some comfort, filming on the first Game Of Thrones spin-off is underway – which is a prequel set thousands of years before the mainline show.

The new spin-off boasts an all-star cast including Naomi Watts, John Simm, Miranda Richardson and more.

The Game Of Thrones prequel is scheduled to be released in 2020.
