The script from the final episode of Game of Thrones has been released and its answered one very important question we had about Daenerys’ fate.

The highly anticipated final series of the fantasy series may have debuted to mixed critical and audience responses, but that hasn’t stopped season eight from gaining a staggering 32 Emmy nominations.

And as a recipient of a best screenplay nod for the final episode, the 79 minute episode script was released on the Emmy website, with fans poring over the words in hope of answers to the unanswered questions left by the show.

One of these was what happened to Daenery Targaryen’s body after Jon Snow dramatically stabbed her.

We saw Dany’s dragon Drogon fly off with her body (after burning the Iron Throne down, natch), but where did he take her? What happened next? Is she somehow alive?

The script finally answered these queries, confirming that the Mother of Dragons is definitely dead, but was being taken to rest with her people.

An aside in the sceenplay reads: ‘[Drogon] heads out toward the eastern sky, flying over Blackwater Bay.

‘It’s not a dusky beauty shot; it’s gray and lifeless, as befits a funeral.’

The route taken by the dragon from King’s Landing suggests that Drogon may have flown Danerys back to Dragonstone, the original seat of House Targaryen in Westeros, allowing Daenerys to return to rest with her ancestors.

Jon’s fateful killing of Daenerys was one of the finale’s (many) controversial moments, with actor Kit Harington previously admitting to finding the scene a bitter pill to swallow.

However, the 32-year-old actor has finally come to terms with the plot, telling the Hollywood Reporter: ‘Jon essentially sees it as Daenerys or Sansa and Arya, and that makes his mind up for him.’

Kit continued: ‘He choose blood over, well, his other blood. But he chooses the people he has grown up with, the people his roots are with: the North.

‘That’s where his loyalties lie in the end. That’s when he puts the knife in.’
