What are you binge watching right now?
We’ve just finished Ozark, the third series. We binged it and we finished last night. That was brilliant. I think we’re going to start Tiger King tonight.
I binged Succession as well, as I’m sure everyone binges Succession.
I’ve been watching The Nest on the BBC, and we’ve also been watching a lot of a cartoon called Masha and the Bear as well… but I’m sure your readers aren’t going to be as interested about that!
But you 22-year olds out there, Masha and The Bear. It’s a Russian animation, and obviously completely Americanized. She [Gemma’s two-year-old daughter] loves it so we’ve been watching that, mainly out of love, and lockdown necessity!
What show do you find yourself always going back to?
Gilmore Girls! My husband just heard that and he said it at the exact same time [laughs]. But yeah, GIlmore Girls, we go back to that every time.
In fact, when the when the sort of the middle of the lockdown week last week which we’ve turned that on for a bit of a comfort, because nothing goes wrong in Star’s Hollow.
So yeah, we go back to that – Bit of Luke and Lorelai, you can’t go wrong.
What was the last show you sat and binge watched in one sitting?
Game of Thrones season one for my audition. I mean that’s years and years ago, but last time I sat and watched a whole series in one go, if I’m answering the question properly.
Yeah, I watched all of season one in one go. In order, I thought I’d just watch a little bit for my audition but I just was completely hooked immediately.
So, yeah, that’s the last one I completely sat through, and then close to that I think in two or three sittings was Succession.
What was the last show to make you cry laughing?
Actually, weirdly, the very last scene of Ozark last night I laughed out loud. Like properly, guffawed out loud. I enjoyed that a lot and I actually made my husband go back through the whole thing so I could watch the end again.
So yeah, that I laughed out loud at, even though of course something, it was something horrific had happened, but it was just so horrific, that I laughed out loud.
Does that make me sound like a monster?!
The second series kind of dips a bit, but the third series… just stick with it, it’s so good.
What was the last show to make you cry?
It was Tom Pelphrey, and he plays Wendy’s brother in Ozark, and he does some extraordinary acting and there’s a very, very sort of upsetting scene, about mental health really.
It was sort of horribly relatable and extremely well played.
It was a brilliantly judged performance and, yeah, it made me cry.
Do you have a show you didn’t expect to fall in love with?
Again, I guess Game of Thrones! I thought “Oh God, what’s this medieval, dragons thing? Oh dear, I don’t know about this”.
Then, just as I’ve said to you, I just watched the whole series in one night, the first series… because it’s so much more than what people think it might be,
What show do you think more people should be watching right now?
I’m pretty mainstream unfortunately. Time to search the crannies of the internet!
We enjoyed Don’t F**k With Cats as well. I think people are coming around to that, we saw that about three or four months ago but I think people are just coming around to that if you’ve seen that.
Also, Masha and The Bear, guys! Masha and the Bear… have a watch!
What show have you been meaning to binge watch, but haven’t got round to yet?
Tiger King, and also I’d like to watch Succession again – I want my husband to watch it.
My thing is when they’ve been so hyped that, you know, there’s probably not much enjoyment to be had out of it anymore. I’d like to watch Succession again.
Oh, and Fargo!. That’s another one that we’ve been watching the second series of, and there’s currently three.
What was the best binge-watch tip someone gave you?
Oh, my friend Maggie told me about The Righteous Gemstones, and I started watching that and it’s very good. I’m enjoying that.
She’s the one who put me on Succession. So I highly, highly respect Maggie’s choices ,and she told me to have a look at The Righteous Gemstones.
I think I’m maybe two to three episodes in, so I’m not really bingeing it but I’m enjoying it.
Killing Eve season 3 new episodes drop Mondays at 6am on iPlayer, and air the following Sunday on BBC One.
