George RR Martin is busy finishing off The Winds of Winter in his self-isolation. But now the 71-year-old has shared some exciting A Song of Ice Fire news with Game of Thrones fans to keep them busy. The author has tweeted the first look at the upcoming illustrated edition of A Storm of Swords.
Martin tweeted: “The world could use some colour right about now.
“Very excited to debut the cover and some exclusive art from the illustrated edition of A STORM OF SWORDS with beautiful new lithograph like illustrations from Gary Gianni, coming Nov 3!”
The picture he shared appeared to be of Daenerys Targaryen feeding her three baby dragons.
A Storm of Swords is the third book in A Song of Ice and Fire and celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

This illustrated edition follows that of A Game of Thrones and A Clash of Kings.
The new version of A Storm of Swords hits bookshelves on November 3, 2020.
Presumably illustrated editions of the ASOIAF books that follow are also in the works.
Last week, Martin gave his first update on his progress with The Winds of Winter in months.

George RR Martin’s books and writing schedule
The 71-year-old posted on his blog: “For those of you who may be concerned for me personally… yes, I am aware that I am very much in the most vulnerable population, given my age and physical condition.
“But I feel fine at the moment, and we are taking all sensible precautions.
“I am off by myself in a remote isolated location, attended by one of my staff, and I’m not going into town or seeing anyone.
“Truth be told, I am spending more time in Westeros than in the real world, writing every day.”

And excitingly for fans, Martin gave a short teaser of how the plot was going.
He added: “Things are pretty grim in the Seven Kingdoms.
“But maybe not as grim as they may become here.”
Meanwhile, ASOIAF expert BryndenBFish, who has inside sources, revealed that Martin has not been getting on with The Winds of Winter because of going into self-isolation.
In fact, it turns out that Martin had allegedly squirrelled himself away several weeks before.
If anything, hopefully, the extra time inside will mean the author finishes the books sooner rather than later.
After all, BryndenBFish really does believe The Winds of Winter will still release in 2020.
He tweeted: “Aw hell yeah! George is writing in Westeros every day. I think this is the year, friends.”
