Game of Thrones writer George RR Martin has taken himself off to a remote cabin to finish The Winds of Winter.
The 70-year-old author, who had previously revealed how he was struggling with the final Game of Thrones book, has taken drastic measures to get the project completed according to The Wall Street Journal who interviewed him.
‘George R.R. Martin is in hiding,’ the publication revealed. ‘He’s talking to me from a remote mountain hideaway whose location he refuses to disclose.’
The outlet added: ‘It’s a cabin he visits when he wants to hunker down to finish a book—and he’s hard at work on The Winds of Winter, the long-awaited sixth instalment in A Song of Ice and Fire, the fantasy series that spawned HBO’s hugely popular Game of Thrones.’
The legendary creative had confessed that he was finding it difficult to get The Winds of Winter down earlier this month, explaining: ‘The Winds of Winter is not so much a novel as a dozen novels, each with a different protagonist, each having a different cast of supporting players and antagonists and allies and lovers around them, and all of these weaving together in an extremely complex fashion.’
He added to The Guardian: ‘So it’s very, very challenging. Fire and Blood, by contrast, was very simple.
‘Not that it’s easy, it still took me years to put together, but it is easier.’
George has been working on The Winds of Winter for four years and had admitted to being distracted, but he shouldn’t be worrying too much though because as of today fans have got his latest edition Fire & Blood to sink their teeth into.
They’ve also been treated to the release date of final Game of Thrones season eight, with a trailer confirming that it will be arriving in April 2019. Yep, Christmas has well and truly come early.
