Gwendoline Christie apparently put herself forward for an Emmy nomination (Picture: HBO)

Game Of Thrones stars Gwendoline Christie, Carice Van Houten and Alfie Allen put themselves forward for Emmy nominations – and it paid off.

The HBO hit apparently didn’t put forward the actors into this year’s awards for their season eight performances, according to The Hollywood Reporter, so they backed themselves.

Good thing they did, as they have each picked up acting nods, along with their co-star Carice Van Houten.

Gwendoline is nominated for best supporting actress in a drama series for her role as Brienne of Tarth, while Alfie is up for best supporting actor in a drama series.

Carice is in the running for best guest actress in a drama series.

Always believe in yourself, kids.

Game Of Thrones, which aired its last ever season this year, stands to take home a whopping 32 awards this year – the most for any programme ever in a single season.

Alfie Allen is said to have put himself forward too (Picture: HBO)

Kit Harington, who plays Jon Snow, and Emilia Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen are both up for lead actor and actress awards, while Maisie Williams and Lena Headey join Gwendoline in the supporting actress category for their roles as Arya Stark and Cersei Lannister respectively.

All the nominations will be welcome news to showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who have been hit with fierce backlash from fans over the way season eight ended.

After millions signed a petition to get the episodes remade, others have used the power of Reddit to make sure the duo are the top result when you Google ‘bad writers’. Harsh.

So far the fantasy drama, based on the books by George RR Martin, has picked up 47 Emmys over the last seven seasons.

Game Of Thrones is available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW TV.
